LinkDM vs ManyChat comes down to what each one counts. LinkDM sells a monthly allowance of DMs, $19 a month for 25,000 on its Pro plan. ManyChat counts active contacts, the people you message in a month, $17 a month for 250 on its Essential plan. Prices are as of 14 October 2026.
What does each tool count?
LinkDM counts DMs sent. Its Help Center says the monthly count resets at midnight on the 1st of each month, and that sending stops once you reach your plan's number (read 14 October 2026). You can buy DM credits to keep going. LinkDM's Help Center lists packs from 1,000 credits for $5 up to 1,000,000 for $350, says they do not expire, and says every connected Instagram account draws from the same balance.
ManyChat counts active contacts. ManyChat defines an active contact as a real person you interact with during a monthly billing period, and counts that person once for the month however many messages you exchange (ManyChat's pricing and Help Center text, October 2026). Past a plan's allowance, ManyChat charges a fee for each extra contact, and you can set a threshold to control it.
The practical difference shows up when a post takes off. A reel that brings thousands of new people in one month moves a ManyChat bill by contacts. On LinkDM, the same reel uses up part of the DM allowance, and every message a person receives counts toward it.
ManyChat vs LinkDM pricing: what does each plan cost?
LinkDM's pricing page, read on 14 October 2026, lists three plans and a custom Enterprise plan:
| LinkDM plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Instagram accounts | DMs a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1 | 1,000 |
| Pro | $19 | $182 a year (20% off) | Up to 3 | 25,000 |
| Platinum+ | $99 | $832 a year (30% off) | Up to 10 | 300,000 |
On yearly billing, LinkDM's page words the allowance as "per account / per month", where the monthly plans state a single total. If you plan to connect several accounts, ask LinkDM which one applies to you.
ManyChat's plans, as of 14 October 2026, which it introduced on 2 March 2026:
| ManyChat plan | Monthly | Per month, billed yearly | Active contacts a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 25 |
| Essential | $17 | $14 | 250 |
| Pro | $39 | $29 | 2,500 |
| Business | $99 | $69 | 7,500 |
| Advanced | $199 | $139 | 25,000 |
Both free plans put the company's own branding on your messages, and both remove it on paid plans. LinkDM's Free plan is one Instagram account and up to 1,000 DMs a month. ManyChat's Free plan is 25 active contacts, four live automations, one team member and two channels chosen from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram.
What would the same audience cost on each?
The two meters count different things, so a comparison needs an assumption. This one is ours, not a measurement: every person who comments gets two DMs in the month.
| People messaged in a month | DMs sent | ManyChat monthly price | LinkDM monthly price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 | 400 | $17 (Essential) | $0 (Free, one account) or $19 (Pro) |
| 2,000 | 4,000 | $39 (Pro) | $19 (Pro) |
| 6,000 | 12,000 | $99 (Business) | $19 (Pro) |
| 20,000 | 40,000 | $199 (Advanced) | $34 (Pro plus a 20,000-credit pack at $15) or $99 (Platinum+) |
Change the assumption and the table moves. If each person receives five messages in a flow, 2,000 people is 10,000 DMs, still inside LinkDM Pro, while ManyChat's price stays at $39 because it counts the person once. Long flows lean toward ManyChat's meter. Short, single-message sends lean toward LinkDM's.
What comes with each plan?
LinkDM's page lists these on Free: post and Reels automation, story auto-reply, story mention auto-reply, Next Post, inbox conversation starters and Facebook auto-reply. It lists these from Pro up: removing LinkDM branding, Comment Auto-Reply, Flow Automation, Lead Generation, DM Planner, Follower Growth Tool, Rewind, IG Live Auto-Reply, Advertising Auto-Reply, Inbox Automation and priority support. Platinum+ adds early access to new features and a DM overflow queue. The page contradicts itself on one item: the Pro card lists Slow Down Mode, while the comparison table marks it Platinum+ only. LinkDM does not define its feature names on that page, so read its help pages before you rely on one.
ManyChat covers more channels. Free and Essential connect two channels from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram. WhatsApp, SMS and email are not on those two plans, and the higher plans connect more channels. Its Help Center describes comment triggers you can point at one post or reel, at all of them, or at the next one you publish, with words to include or leave out, and a flow builder where you can add a condition, such as sending the private reply only to people who follow you.
LinkDM or ManyChat: which fits which job?
- Pick ManyChat if you need WhatsApp, SMS or email in the same tool as Instagram, or you want conditions inside the flow. Its price follows the number of people, so it suits a smaller audience that receives long conversations.
- Pick LinkDM if Instagram is the whole job and you prefer to read your limit as a number of DMs. Pro covers up to 3 Instagram accounts for $19 a month, and the credit packs give you a way to go past the allowance without changing plan.
- Either works for the core job. Both tools turn a keyword comment into a DM with your link, and both run inside the same Instagram rules.
Those rules apply to both. Meta's documentation (read 14 October 2026) allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days, and sets a ceiling of 750 private replies an hour per account for comments on posts and reels. LinkDM adds its own safeguard of 500 DMs an hour and, per its Help Center, holds the rest until the next hour. For the full picture, see Instagram's DM limits, and for how to check any tool's connection, is ManyChat safe.
Is there a cheaper alternative to ManyChat for Instagram?
On published prices, it depends on how many people you message. LinkDM Pro at $19 a month covers up to 25,000 DMs on up to three accounts, where ManyChat Pro is $39 a month for 2,500 contacts. For a third option, inDM is built for Instagram only. Its Free plan is $0 forever with no card, one Instagram account, unlimited messages and every automation type. Growth is $4.99 for the first month, then $14.99 a month, and adds up to 5 Instagram accounts. inDM has no flow canvas and cannot schedule a DM for a set time, which LinkDM lists as a Pro feature. Our ManyChat comparison and LinkDM comparison set out the rest, and how ManyChat pricing works goes through its plans in more detail.
Where this stops working
- We could not open ManyChat's pricing page. It answered our reader with a bot check on 14 October 2026. The ManyChat figures come from its pricing and Help Center text as returned by a search that day, and they match what we recorded on 4 and 24 August 2026. Open manychat.com/pricing before you buy.
- Both companies change prices. ManyChat introduced its active-contact plans on 2 March 2026, so an older account may show different numbers. Treat every figure here as dated.
- We have not run either tool. Nothing here covers setup time, support, reliability or how many messages reach people. Those need a trial on your own account.
- The two meters are not the same unit. The table above rests on our two-DMs assumption, and LinkDM does not say on its pricing page how it counts a DM in every case.
- Neither tool can go faster than Instagram. Both are limited to people who engaged first, and neither can message strangers.
Pick the meter that matches how your audience behaves, check both pricing pages on the day you sign up, and start on a free plan before you move anything over.
