Moving day

Same meter, fewer ceilings

Moving from LinkDM to inDM keeps the billing model you already understand and drops the account caps. Here's the arithmetic, honestly — including the case where you shouldn't move.

The pricing delta

LinkDM and inDM meter the same thing — messages sent — so this is the least confusing switch in the category. No unit conversion, no contact-count forecasting.

LinkDM, checked 2026-08-14: Free $0 for 1,000 DMs on 1 account with LinkDM branding; Pro $19/mo for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts; Platinum+ $99/mo for 300,000 DMs on 10 accounts.

inDM, as of 2026-08-12: Free forever for 1,000 messages, then Growth at $9.99 for 10,000 or $19.99 for 30,000, with $1 per extra 1,000 above that. No account cap on any plan.

Do the division before you move. LinkDM Pro is $0.00076 per DM; inDM Growth is $0.001. Above roughly 10,000 DMs a month, LinkDM is the cheaper bill and switching for price alone would be a mistake. Below it, the entry price runs the other way: $9.99 against $19, and our free plan carries no branding while theirs does.

One adjustment when you estimate: a link delivery in inDM spends two messages — the invite, then the link. Follow-gate prompts are never counted. So take your LinkDM monthly send, work out how much of it is two-step deliveries, and price against the right tier rather than the headline number.

Moving day, step by step

Price it first — this one can go either way

Pull your last three months of DM volume from LinkDM. If you are consistently above about 10,000 a month, their per-DM rate is better than ours and the honest advice is to stay. Below that, keep reading.

Connect Instagram to inDM

Sign up and connect through Instagram's own login — inDM never sees your password. Connect every account you run; there is no per-account charge and no cap, so this is the step where multi-account setups get simpler rather than more expensive.

Rebuild your live automations

Open My Content, pick the post the automation runs on, set the keyword and write the DM. The live preview renders it exactly as Instagram will before anything sends. Most creators find three or four automations are doing the real work.

Run both, then retire the old ones

Keep LinkDM connected while you verify. Two tools answering the same keyword on the same post will both fire, so pause each LinkDM automation as its inDM replacement goes live rather than switching everything at once.

What you gain
  • No cap on connected Instagram accounts, on any plan including free
  • A $9.99 entry price against $19, if you send under ~10,000 a month
  • A free plan with no branding on your messages and every feature the paid plans have
  • Follow-gate prompts that are never billed — we count deliveries, not requests
  • The Powered by inDM badge as an option that makes an automation free, not a fee to remove
Keep in mind
  • Above ~10,000 DMs a month LinkDM is cheaper per message — $0.00076 against our $0.001. If volume is your whole story, stay put.
  • LinkDM's Platinum+ carries 300,000 DMs a month; our published plans top out at 30,000 plus $1 per extra 1,000.
  • Conversation history cannot transfer between tools. Export what you need from LinkDM first; contacts rebuild in inDM as people engage.
  • Pricing on both sides was checked 2026-08-14 (LinkDM) and 2026-08-12 (inDM). Verify both pages before you commit.
Good to know

Questions, answered plainly

Will my LinkDM automations transfer to inDM?

Not automatically — no tool can import another's automations or Instagram conversation history. You rebuild each automation in inDM by picking the post, setting the keyword and writing the DM. Most creators find three or four automations are doing the real work, so it is usually a short afternoon.

Should I actually switch from LinkDM?

Not if you send more than about 10,000 DMs a month. LinkDM Pro works out to $0.00076 per DM against inDM Growth at $0.001, so above the crossover their bill is genuinely lower. Below it, our $9.99 entry beats their $19, our free plan carries no branding, and we do not cap connected accounts.

Can I run LinkDM and inDM at the same time?

Yes, and it is the safest way to move. Both connect through Instagram's official API and can be authorised at once. The one thing to avoid is leaving two automations answering the same keyword on the same post — both will fire. Pause each LinkDM automation as its inDM replacement goes live.
