The size each platform publishes, and a crop to match
Choose a size from Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube or Pinterest, pick a picture from your device and download it cut to that size. Nothing is uploaded.
Your picture is opened on this page only. Nothing is uploaded.
Pick a size first and the frame below shows its shape. Choose a picture to see it cut to that size.
Every size in the list was read from the platform's own Help Center or business pages on 23 October 2026, and each one is named in the table under the tool. Sizes marked as our arithmetic sit inside a range the platform publishes but are not figures the platform names. X and TikTok are not in the list because we could not read their pages that day. Use "Custom size" for any other size.

Social media image sizes are the pixel dimensions a platform lists for a profile picture, cover, post or thumbnail. This free tool gathers the ones Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest publish, each read from that platform's own pages on 23 October 2026, and crops and resizes a picture from your device to match. Nothing is uploaded.
Which sizes do Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest publish?
The table lists every size we could read, and the picker above has a preset for each one that is a fixed size. Sizes are in pixels, width first.
| Platform | Image | Size in pixels |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | 1080 wide, shape 1.91:1 to 3:4 (566 to 1440 high) | |
| Reel cover | 420 x 654 | |
| Story ad | 1080 x 1920, minimum 600 x 1067 | |
| Profile picture | None published | |
| Page profile picture | 320 x 320 | |
| Page cover photo | 851 x 315, minimum 400 x 150 | |
| Profile cover photo | At least 720 wide | |
| Feed ad | 1080 x 1080, or 1440 x 1800 for 4:5, both minimum | |
| Profile photo | 400 x 400 up to 7680 x 4320 | |
| Profile background | 1584 x 396 | |
| Page logo | 400 x 400, minimum 268 x 268 | |
| Page cover | 1512 x 256 | |
| Page post with a link | 1200 x 627 | |
| Single image ad | 1200 x 628, 1200 x 1200 or 720 x 900 | |
| YouTube | Channel banner | 2560 x 1440, minimum 2048 x 1152 |
| YouTube | Video thumbnail | 3840 x 2160, minimum width 640 |
| YouTube | Shorts thumbnail | 2160 x 3840, minimum height 640 |
| YouTube | Profile picture | Shows at 98 x 98 |
| Pin | 1000 x 1500 (2:3) | |
| Profile cover, business account | At least 800 x 450, 16:9 |
Instagram's photo row is a range because Instagram gives one. The 1080 by 1080 and 1080 by 1350 presets sit inside it and are our arithmetic, since Instagram names neither. The page on Instagram post size goes through Instagram's figures in full.
Which sizes did you leave out, and why?
We left out X and TikTok, because we could not read their pages. X's Help Center and ads pages answered our request with a security check on 23 October 2026, and TikTok's help pages did not open for us. A size we could not read is a size we do not print.
We also left out any format where the platform's own pages name no size, such as the Instagram profile picture, which the table marks as none published. Use Custom size in the picker for any figure you have from another source.
Are these sizes for posts or for ads?
Mostly for the image itself, but three rows are ad specifications: the Instagram story ad, the Facebook Feed ad and the LinkedIn single image ad. We show them because they are sizes those platforms publish, and we label them. Instagram's story articles name no size for a story you post, so the story ad size is the nearest figure Meta gives. The Pinterest Pin row comes from Pinterest's ad specs page, which says the same format serves organic Pins too, and Pinterest's Pin quality page also recommends 2:3. A post of your own may be treated differently.
How do I resize a picture to one of these sizes?
Choose a size, choose a picture, and download it. Fill crops the edges to match the shape, and two sliders move the crop. Fit shows the whole picture with white or black bars instead.
The tool warns you when a picture is smaller than the size you chose, because enlarging softens it. After you save, it shows the file size, so you can check it against a limit in the note, such as Facebook's 100 KB for the fastest cover. For a still frame from a video, the reels safe zone checker shows where text should sit, and the grid preview shows how several pictures sit together.
Where this stops working
- Two platforms are missing. X and TikTok are not here, as above.
- Platforms change sizes. Every figure is as read on 23 October 2026. LinkedIn marks its profile photo page as last updated about two years ago, and other pages are newer.
- Facebook's cover figures disagree. Its Page article gives a 16:9 shape on computers and 2.4:1 on phones beside a fastest-loading size of 851 by 315, which is neither. Keep key content in the middle.
- Platforms crop their own way. The preview shows your crop, and a platform may trim a cover or a thumbnail again on some screens.
- Some rows are minimums. A minimum is the smallest size a platform takes, not the best one.
- A tool cannot judge the picture. It will not tell you whether text is large enough to read.
A right-sized picture gets seen, and the next step is what people can do from it. When a post asks for a keyword, a comment-to-DM automation from inDM sends each commenter your link, set up in a few minutes with the setup guide.

What are the Twitter post dimensions?
We could not read them. X's Help Center and ads pages showed a security check to our request on 23 October 2026, so this tool lists no X size, and we will not guess one. X's developer documentation, read the same day, lists a typical maximum of 5 MB for an image on a post and gives no pixel size. Check X's Help Center for the current figure, then choose Custom size in the picker to cut a picture to it.
What is the Facebook cover photo size?
For a Facebook Page, Facebook's Help Center says a cover must be at least 400 by 150 pixels, and that an sRGB JPG at 851 by 315 pixels, under 100 KB, loads fastest. The same page gives a 16:9 shape on computers and 2.4:1 on phones, which do not match 851 by 315, so keep key content in the middle. For a personal profile, the Help Center says a cover must be at least 720 pixels wide. Read 23 October 2026.
What is the right LinkedIn post image size?
The LinkedIn Help pages we read give no size for an image-only post, and say an image posted alone is enlarged to fit the feed. For a Page post that shares a link, LinkedIn says to use 1.91:1, which it gives as 1200 by 627 pixels, with the image more than 200 pixels wide. For single image ads it recommends 1200 by 628, 1200 by 1200 or 720 by 900. Read 23 October 2026.
Does this tool upload my picture?
No. Your browser opens the picture on this page, cuts it to the size you chose and saves it to your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the page lets go of the picture when you clear it or leave.
Should I save a PNG or a JPG?
Platforms differ. Facebook's Help Center says a PNG may look better for a Page profile picture or cover with a logo or text, while LinkedIn's says a high-resolution JPEG gives the best Page image resolution. A JPG makes a smaller file, which helps where there is a limit, such as YouTube's 2 MB for a video thumbnail uploaded from a phone. The tool shows the file size after you save.
