Turn a reel's Insights into rates
Type the views, viewers, likes, comments, shares, saves and watch time from your reel's Insights. You get rates per view and per viewer, and the share of the reel people watched.
You type every number from your own Insights: open the Reels tab on your profile, tap the reel, then tap View insights. This page reads no reel and logs into nothing. It never asks for your username or password.
Times your reel started to play or replayed.
Unique accounts that saw your reel on screen at least once. Some screens call this reach.
Interactions on the reel
Type the ones your Insights screen shows. Leave a box empty and it is skipped.
As Insights shows it. Instagram works it out as watch time divided by initial views.
The full length of your reel.
Type your views or viewers and at least one interaction. The result builds as you type.
Interactions per viewer
Views per viewer
Share of the reel watched, on average
| Interaction | Count | Per view | Per viewer |
|---|
Every rate is plain arithmetic on the numbers you typed, with no label such as good or poor attached, because we hold no sourced benchmark and will not invent one. The total counts only the interactions you typed, so it can differ a little from the Interactions number in Insights. For a rate worked out from followers, use the engagement rate calculator.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type here is stored or sent anywhere.

An Instagram reel analyzer turns the numbers in your reel's Insights into rates: interactions per view, interactions per viewer and the share of the reel people watched on average. This free one reads no reel and logs into nothing. You type the numbers from your own Insights, and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
How to analyze Instagram reels with this tool
Open the reel's Insights, copy the numbers across, and read the rates. On your profile, go to the Reels tab, tap the reel, then tap View insights, as Instagram's Help Center describes it (read 23 October 2026). Type Views and Viewers first, then the likes, comments, shares and saves your screen shows, then the Average watch time and the length of the reel. The rates build as you type.
A reel posted an hour ago is still collecting views, so its rates will move. Compare reels at a similar age.
Which numbers does it use, and what do they mean?
The tool uses the names Instagram's Help Center gives reel insights: Views, Watch time, Viewers, Average watch time and Follows. Here is what the three it reads mean.
- Views is the number of times your reel starts to play or replays, so one person watching twice adds two.
- Viewers is the number of unique accounts that saw your reel on screen at least once, whether or not it played. Meta's developer documentation calls a matching count reach, and some screens may too. The reach entry covers the idea.
- Average watch time is the watch time divided by the number of initial views, where an initial view is the first time your reel starts to play in a session. Watch time includes any time spent replaying.
Interactions are the actions people take on the reel. The Help Center lists likes, comments, saves and shares as examples, and Meta's developer documentation reports each of those four for reels.
What is a reel engagement rate, and how does this tool work it out?
A reel engagement rate is the interactions on a reel divided by something that counts the audience. Instagram's reel insights list counts, not rates, so every rate here is arithmetic on the numbers you type. The tool divides in two ways and shows both:
- Per view: likes, comments, shares and saves together, divided by views.
- Per viewer: the same total, divided by viewers.
Here is a made-up example, only to show the steps. A reel has 12,000 views and 8,000 viewers. It has 300 likes, 40 comments, 50 shares and 110 saves, which is 500 interactions. That is 500 divided by 12,000, or 4.17% per view, and 500 divided by 8,000, or 6.25% per viewer. Views per viewer is 12,000 divided by 8,000, or 1.5, which tells you how often the same account came back.
The two rates answer different questions, so never put a per-view rate next to a per-viewer rate. A rate worked out from followers is a third number again. The engagement rate calculator does that one, and the post on what Instagram's metrics mean explains why the bases differ.
What does the share of the reel watched mean?
It is the average watch time divided by the length of the reel. With the same made-up reel, an average watch time of 12 seconds on a 30 second reel is 40%.
The result can pass 100%. Instagram works average watch time out from total watch time, replays included, divided by initial views, so a reel that people loop can show an average longer than the reel itself. The tool adds a note when that happens.
Is there a free Instagram reel analyzer that needs no login?
Yes, this one. It needs no login because it reads nothing from your account. It cannot see your reels, your followers or your Insights, and it never asks for a username or password.
How do I compare one reel with another?
Run the tool once per reel and compare the same rate on the same basis. Put per view next to per view and per viewer next to per viewer, and compare reels of a similar length and age. Change one thing at a time between reels, as the guide to how to test Instagram reels suggests, so a difference in the rates has one likely cause.
The tool gives no grade. For named, dated studies of engagement rates, and why they disagree, read what a good engagement rate on Instagram looks like.
Where this stops working
- It reads no reel. Every number is typed by you, so check each box against your Insights screen.
- Your screen may differ. Instagram says some metrics, including viewers, are estimated and in development, and that Views is being introduced gradually. Leave out any box your screen does not show.
- The total is the sum of what you type. Meta's developer documentation counts likes, saves, comments and shares, minus unlikes, unsaves and deleted comments, so the Interactions number in Insights can differ a little from your sum.
- It gives no grade. Instagram's reel insights set no target, and we hold no sourced benchmark, so there is no good or poor here.
- It cannot say why. A rate does not show whether people were followers or new to you, or what in the reel made them stay.
- It covers your own reels only. Instagram's Help Center says insights need a public account and exist for reels posted on or after 14 May 2021, for up to two years after posting.
Insights counts the comments on a reel. If you want each one answered, inDM's free comment-to-DM automation replies to the ones that carry your keyword and sends that person your link.
How to use it
Open your reel's Insights
On your profile, open the Reels tab, tap the reel, then tap View insights. You need a public account to see Insights.
Type views and viewers
Enter Views and Viewers as Insights shows them. Viewers is the number of unique accounts that saw the reel on screen at least once, so each account counts once.
Add the interactions you can see
Type the likes, comments, shares and saves your screen shows. Leave a box empty if your screen does not show it, and the tool skips it.
Add the watch time and the reel length
Type Average watch time and the length of the reel, in seconds or as minutes and seconds, like 0:12. The tool shows the share of the reel watched on average.
Read the rates, then compare with your own reels
The rates carry no grade. Run the same steps on another reel and compare the two on the same basis, per view with per view and per viewer with per viewer.

Is there a good rate to aim for on a reel?
This page does not name one. Instagram's reel insights list counts and set no target, and we hold no sourced benchmark. Compare a reel with your own earlier reels, using the same rate on the same basis each time.
Do I need to log in or share my password?
No. The tool reads nothing from Instagram and asks for no username or password. You type the numbers from your own Insights, the sums run on this page, and nothing you type is stored, logged or sent anywhere.
Why does the tool ask for viewers as well as views?
Views counts every start and replay, and viewers counts each account once. Dividing interactions by each gives two different rates, per view and per viewer, and the gap between views and viewers shows how often the same account came back.
Can I analyze someone else's reel?
No. Instagram's Help Center says you can view insights on the reels you create, and this tool reads nothing from Instagram. It works only on numbers you can see in your own Insights.
Where do I find average watch time on a reel?
Open the Reels tab on your profile, tap the reel, then tap View insights. Instagram's Help Center lists Average watch time among the reel insights and defines it as watch time divided by the number of initial views.
