How-to guide

Run all your Instagram accounts without juggling logins

To manage multiple Instagram accounts, add each one to the Instagram app, which keeps up to 10 logged in at once (Instagram's help centre, read 12 October 2026), and switch between them from your profile. This guide then covers a computer, client accounts you do not own, and answering DMs across every account.

Table of contents

Before you start

  • The login details for each account you run yourself, with your two-factor codes to hand in case Instagram asks for one.
  • For client accounts you do not own, the owner on hand to grant access, so nobody has to send you a password.
  • A Business or Creator account on any Instagram account you want to automate DMs for, which step 5 explains.

The steps

Add each account in the Instagram app and switch between them

The Instagram app keeps up to 10 accounts logged in at once. Instagram's help centre says up to 10 accounts can be logged in at one time, in its article on adding and switching between multiple profiles (read on 12 October 2026).

To add an account, open your profile, tap your username at the top and choose to add an account, then log in to it. To switch, tap your profile picture or your username and pick the account you want. Whatever you do next, whether posting, commenting or replying, happens as the account you are in.

Tip: Give each account a distinct profile picture before you add the next, so a glance at the corner of the screen tells you which one you are in.

Accounts Center is where Instagram lets you add more than one of your accounts to the same set. Instagram's help centre, read on 12 October 2026, says Accounts Center lets you add more than one Instagram account, and it states no different limit from the 10 in step 1.

Find Accounts Center in your Instagram settings and add each account you run. The point is one place that holds every account you manage, so you work with a set of accounts instead of a pile of separate logins.

Tip: Menus move between versions of the app, so if Accounts Center is not where you expect, search for it in Instagram's help centre rather than guessing.

Use a computer when you post or reply in volume

A computer works too, because instagram.com supports switching between accounts. A keyboard and a full-size screen suit long captions, long replies and a day of answering messages.

A scheduling tool is worth adding once you post for many accounts. You prepare posts ahead of time and they publish on schedule, without you opening each account at the moment. Choose one that connects to Instagram and to every account you manage. Scheduling is a separate job from answering DMs, which step 5 covers.

Tip: Keep two-factor authentication switched on for every account you log in to on a shared or work computer.

Use access instead of passwords for accounts you do not own

For a client's account, the owner should give you access without sharing the password, and Instagram and Meta each have a route built for it. Which route fits depends on the job:

  • Posting, liking and commenting by hand: Instagram's Shared access. The owner opens their profile, then Menu, then Shared access, then Invite people. The invitation stays open for 7 days. The inbox and stories are separate switches that the owner turns on person by person. Shared access is only for eligible accounts.
  • Running ads: Meta Business Suite partner access. Someone with full control of the client's business portfolio adds your agency as a partner, using your agency's business portfolio ID, and chooses full or task-level access. Two-factor authentication has to be on, and you need a business portfolio of your own.
  • Automating DMs: a DM tool's own connect step. The client opens a link on their own phone, logs in on Instagram's own screen and approves. In inDM, a member of your workspace types the client's handle, creates a link and sends it. The client needs no inDM account, and the link works once and expires after 7 days.

How to give an agency access to Instagram without the password sets out all three routes in full.

Tip: Shared access is for people, partner access is for ads, and a connect step is for a tool, so most agencies end up using two of them side by side.

Answer DMs and comments across every account

The Instagram app shows one account's inbox at a time. Answering the same question on five accounts means switching to each one and typing it again, and a comment that arrives overnight waits until somebody opens that account.

Comment-to-DM automation covers the repeating part. When someone comments a keyword on a post, the account sends them the DM you wrote, with the link or the answer, and no one has to watch that account's inbox. It needs a Business or Creator account, and switching to a professional account is free and takes a few minutes.

In inDM, one workspace holds every account you connect, and you switch between them from the top bar. inDM connects through Instagram's own login screen, and no Facebook Page is needed. Each account keeps its own automations, contacts and numbers. How inDM handles more than one account goes through what stays separate.

Tip: Start with the one post on each account that draws the same question again and again, and automate that first.

Pick a plan by how many accounts you connect

inDM's plan follows the number of Instagram accounts you connect. Prices are monthly in US dollars as of 12 October 2026, and nothing on any plan counts messages or contacts:

  • Free: $0 with no card, 1 Instagram account, unlimited messages and every automation type.
  • Growth: up to 5 accounts, at $4.99 the first month, then $14.99 a month. Growth also removes app branding, so your DMs carry your brand alone, and it adds saved templates, link analytics and your whole team in the workspace.
  • Agency Lite: up to 15 accounts, at $39 a month.
  • Agency Pro: 30 accounts, at $99 a month, then $3 a month for each account after 30, plus a dedicated account manager.

Both agency plans include everything in Growth, with no intro price and no trial. The DM automation cost calculator works out the figure for any number of accounts.

Tip: Two accounts in your own name fit on Growth, so the agency plans only come into it once you pass 5.

Keep each account's automations separate on purpose

In inDM, one automation belongs to one account and never spans two. If two accounts need the same keyword, you build it once on each, which suits audiences that ask different things.

When the accounts are close to identical, save the automation that worked as a template on Growth or an agency plan and start it on the next account. Only the post and the link change, so a setup for one account becomes a setup for the next in a few minutes.

Two limits sit alongside this. inDM shows one account on screen at a time, so totals across accounts are yours to add up. And everyone in a workspace sees every connected account, so there are no per-client permissions.

Tip: Test each copy by commenting your keyword from another account before you leave it running.
What you end up with

Every account you run is in the Instagram app, reachable from a computer, open to the right people without a shared password, and answering keyword comments with DMs you wrote once and copied to the next account.

Good to know

Questions, answered plainly

How many Instagram accounts can you have on one phone?

Instagram's help centre says you can have up to 10 accounts logged in at one time in the Instagram app, read on 12 October 2026. You add each one by tapping your username at the top of your profile and choosing to add an account, and you switch between them by tapping your profile picture or username. The help centre does not state a different limit for accounts added through Accounts Center.

Can I manage multiple Instagram accounts from a computer?

Yes. The Instagram website, instagram.com, supports switching between accounts you have added, so you can use several accounts from a computer as well as a phone. When you publish for many accounts, a scheduling tool lets you prepare posts ahead of time, and DM automation keeps answering keyword comments whether or not anyone has a computer open.

How do agencies manage clients' Instagram accounts without passwords?

Agencies use three routes, each built for a different job. Instagram's Shared access lets people post, like and comment without the password, Meta Business Suite partner access covers ads, and a DM tool's connect link lets a client approve automation on Instagram's own login screen. The full comparison is at indm.social/blog/give-agency-access-to-instagram-without-password.

Can one DM automation run on several Instagram accounts?

No. In inDM every automation belongs to one connected account and watches only that account's posts. To run the same setup on another account, save it as a template on Growth or an agency plan and start it there, choosing that account's post and link. One workspace holds every account, and you switch between them from the top bar.
