Conversion rate
Why it matters for creators
Conversion rate is the most quoted and least defined number in creator marketing. A tool advertising an 80% conversion rate is usually measuring the step most flattering to it.
The fix is to always say from what, to what. In a comment-to-DM funnel there are at least four honest rates: comments that matched the keyword, matched comments that got a DM, DMs where the person tapped the button, and taps that ended in whatever you were actually after. Each is legitimate; they are wildly different numbers, and only the last one is what most people mean by conversion.
The useful discipline is picking the step you can change. A weak comment-to-DM rate is a delivery problem you can fix today. A weak tap-to-purchase rate is a landing page or an offer problem, and no amount of automation tuning will move it. Trigger rate is the top-of-funnel version of the same question.
