Instagram Business account
Why it matters for creators
API access is the practical reason this account type comes up in automation: Instagram only lets tools send DMs on behalf of professional accounts, so a Business or Creator account is a prerequisite for any legitimate DM automation.
The rest of the package helps too. Insights show whether a post actually drove reach and replies, and contact buttons, ads tools, and shopping features matter as a business grows. If you run a brand or a team-managed account, Business is usually the right professional type; individual creators often pick the Creator account instead.
What the switch actually adds is a specific list (private replies, story-reply handling, a unified inbox and DM analytics) none of which exist on a personal account, where every DM is typed by hand. That list sits in context in what Instagram DMs are.
