Profile visits

Profile visits count how many times an account's profile page was opened in a given period, reported in Instagram Insights for professional accounts. It sits between reach and action in the funnel: the audience saw something and chose to find out who made it.

Why it matters for creators

Profile visits measure curiosity, and curiosity is the step most content skips straight past. Plenty of posts reach large numbers of people who never wonder who made them.

The ratio worth watching is visits against reach. A post that reached 50,000 people and produced 200 profile visits did something different from one that reached 5,000 and produced the same 200 — the second is finding the right people. Chasing reach alone tends to optimise for content that travels well and says nothing about you.

It is also the number that tells you whether your bio is doing its job. A high visit count with nothing happening afterwards is a bio and link problem, not a content problem, and it is one of the cheapest things to fix. The people are already arriving.
