Opt-out
Why it matters for creators
Opt-in gets the attention, but opt-out is the half that decides whether an automation reads as helpful or as a nuisance, and it is the half most guides skip.
Instagram's structure does a lot of the work for you. Because a business can only message people inside an open conversation, someone who stops engaging stops hearing from you automatically — there is no list to be stuck on and no drip that keeps running for months. Blocking or muting is instant and needs no cooperation from the tool.
What that does not cover is the request made in words. If somebody replies asking you to stop, honouring it is a Meta platform requirement, not a courtesy, and an automation that keeps firing at them is a genuine risk to the account. Practically: watch your inbox for stop requests, and set dedupe so a person who already got a link is not sent it again the next time they comment.
