Link in bio
The link in bio is the single clickable URL Instagram allows on a profile page. Because links in captions and comments aren't tappable, creators point followers there, or route around the limitation entirely by sending links directly in DMs.
Why it matters for creators
"Link in bio" exists because Instagram makes every other surface link-hostile. It works, but it leaks: the person has to leave the post, find your profile, tap the link, and then find the specific thing you mentioned, every step loses people.
The direct alternative is delivering the exact link in a DM the moment someone asks, a comment-to-DM automation exists to close precisely that gap. Bio links still matter for profile visitors; DM links win when intent is born under a specific post.
