Email capture
Email capture is the practice of collecting email addresses from an audience, usually in exchange for something useful like a guide, discount, or waitlist spot. In Instagram automation, a DM conversation asks for the address directly in chat, saving it to a list the creator owns outside the platform.
Why it matters for creators
An email list is the part of your audience you can reach on your own terms. It isn't affected by algorithm shifts, and it moves with you across platforms, products, and launches. For most creators it's where the durable income lives: newsletters, launches, and offers all run on it.
Capturing emails inside a DM removes the usual drop-off. Instead of sending someone to a landing page, the conversation simply asks for their address and delivers the freebie in the same thread, no tab-switching, no form. The moment to ask is right after you've given something useful, when the exchange feels fair.
