Email capture

Email capture is the practice of collecting email addresses from an audience, usually in exchange for something useful like a guide, discount, or waitlist spot. In Instagram automation, a DM conversation asks for the address directly in chat, saving it to a list the creator owns outside the platform.

Why it matters for creators

An email list is the part of your audience you can reach on your own terms — it isn't affected by algorithm shifts, and it moves with you across platforms, products, and launches. For most creators it's where the durable income lives: newsletters, launches, and offers all run on it.

Capturing emails inside a DM removes the usual drop-off. Instead of sending someone to a landing page, the conversation simply asks for their address and delivers the freebie in the same thread — no tab-switching, no form. The moment to ask is right after you've given something useful, when the exchange feels fair.
