Link sticker

The link sticker is an Instagram Stories feature that places a tappable link on a story frame. It replaced the old swipe-up link in 2021 and is available to every account, with no follower minimum — the requirement swipe-up carried.

Why it matters for creators

The link sticker removed the 10,000-follower gate that swipe-up carried, which made story links available to everyone rather than to accounts that had already made it. If you remember being told you needed 10k to share a link, that rule is gone.

Its real limit is time rather than reach. A link sticker lives exactly as long as the story does — twenty-four hours — and then the link is gone with it. Anyone who sees the story on day two, or finds your post a week later, has no path to that link at all.

That gap is what story reply automation fills from the other direction: instead of putting the link on the story, you let people reply to it and the link arrives in their DMs, where it stays. The two work well together — sticker for the people watching now, reply automation for everyone else.
